DIRECT BUY
Direct Buy has infomercials that claim that they can sell everything you need for the home to remodel at prices that are so low, they can't even mention the brand names of the manufacturer's. That statement in itself should make you think twice.
They sell from "Showrooms" across the country but you are not allowed to drop in and take a look at what items they carry and at what price. You are only allowed to make an appointment if you are a new customer and then both spouses must attend this appointment.
What are they hiding? Why would a company not allow you to come on over and take a look inside? This is a common ploy used for high pressure sales tactics.
When I requested their free information packet over the phone, I gave a fake phone number so I would not be harassed with sales calls. The packet arrived and it was a brochure that stated everything the infomercial already stated.
The only extra information included stated that you would have to bring your spouse, you had to make an appointment and you had to leave the kids at home (I guess they don't want kids to interfere with their ability to pressure you to join their membership). You also had to fill out the back of the visitor's pass that wanted to know if you rented or owned your home. This is common to make sure you can qualify for the big loan you are going to take out so they don't waste their time on people who only rent.
They could not give you a price on how much it would cost to become a member due to the difference in prices from suppliers across the nation, but they made it clear they would not tell you how much your membership fee would be until AFTER you took an "honest look" at what they had to offer during the "open house" you were invited to attend. (I researched online and found out the fee is over $5,000).
Is that the biggest bull crap you have ever heard? They have an excuse for not telling a normal consumer everything they would ask until you are trapped in their showroom.
Another requirement is that once you attend the open house with your visitors pass, you have to decide to become a member right then and there or you will not be allowed to join at a later date. What does that tell you?
This marketing technique shouts out HIGH PRESSURE SALES WILL BE ATTEMPTED ON YOU. According to complaints on the Internet this company first misleads you to join their membership stating you will save thousands, but then they have problems delivering products at prices promised.
May God help you if they get your credit card or bank account information because a company that scams from the beginning will keep on scamming when they get your personal information.
